DTN COMMENTS: The country is off to a slow start this morning following
yesterday's light live business in the South at mostly $201, that was
about steady in Kansas and $1 higher in Texas. The North remained rather
quiet. Asking prices today are around $202-plus in the South, but still
not fully established in the North. A more significant trade will likely
be delayed until later today and/or Friday. Beef cutouts are expected to
be mixed with light to moderate box movement.
According to the exports sales highlight report for the period of January
3 to January 9, 2025. Net beef sales of 9,700 MT for 2025 primarily for
Japan(3,600 MT), China(3,500 MT), South Korea(800 MT), Canada (600 MT),
and Taiwan(600 MT), were offset by reductions for Mexico(700 MT) and
Chile(100 MT). Exports of 14,000 MT were primarily to Japan(3,800 MT),
South Korea(3,600 MT), China(2,600 MT), Mexico(1,200 MT), and Taiwan(900
MT).
NOTE: Feedlots are encouraged to call DTN with any cattle sales, at
